Diever, Drenthe and the surrounding area: Located on the edge of the Drents-Friese Wold (6100 hectares), one of the biggest national parks of the Netherlands, with 32 marked walks & numerous cycle paths. Also situated close by to National Park Dwingelderveld (3692 hectares) - the largest moorland on the European Continent - with its 60 kms of walking trails & 40 kms of bicycle paths. Local activities in this area of outstanding natural beauty include walking, bicycling, horseriding and birdwatching. Sailing & fishing can be enjoyed at Giethoorn (the Venice of the North). The provincial capital at Assen is just 25 minutes away. While Emmen (with its world-famous zoo), the city of Groningen (shop till you dro p) & the German border are all less than an hours drive away. For the children, there are 18 funparks in the surrounding area. And more than 25 museums will provide an interest to each member of the family (yes, there is even a museum of comic books!)
