Lovely cottage, very clean and well looked after. Well situated, quiet, in walking distance of everything in the charming village. The property itself is full of character and well renovated and nicely furnished. The area is outstanding and I would recommend staying here to anyone.
Cottage Le Capiol is superbly situated as a base to explore the Dordogne Valley. It is and sensitively renovated old building, comfortable and well-equipped with plenty of room, two bathrooms and a dedicated parking space. It remains at a reasonable temperature no matter how hot it is outside, The accommodation is on three levels and not suitable for a family with very young children. The owner and his associate are helpful and friendly. The description is accurate, and I would unhesitatingly recommend this property to anyone who can cope with stairs. There is a smell from the drains in the entrance hall, but this is not particularly offensive. We have no other adverse criticisms and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
situated in an attactive and quite area of the Dordogne with easy access to many of the main chateaux. The local vilaage offered all the basic requirements and the facilities within the recently renovated hourse were good.
Lack of garden and limited outside seating areas might not make this a suitable property for children.
We enjoyed a delightful stay in this quite and beautiful retreat.
We stayed with my parents and my father delighted in walking down to buy croissants for breakfast. He enjoyed chatting to the people he met who were wonderfully friendly.
The cottage was perfect for a couple with two children (remembering that the second bedroom is on the third floor whilst the first is at entry level, or for two couples.
The only request is that perhaps there could be an additional reading lamp in the sitting area.
Other than that it was a lovely and comfortable place to stay.
Cottage Le Capiol is a charming and very attractive property, tastefully presented and ideally situated to explore the many attractions of this part of the Dordogne. The attractive village of Cenac supplies all ones day-to-day requirements, and the proximity to to the bastide village of Domme, and to the Dordogne river itself are a further bonus. The Cottage, on three levels, with living area on the middle floor, is ideal for two couples. Communication by the proprietor is excellent. Highly recommended.
Cottage le Capiol is a beautifully restored and tastefully presented village house in a delightful location in the heart of the Dordogne. The small shaded patio (once we found it and realised it was ours to use) is a delightful outdoor extension to this cosy little house.
The two bedrooms are rather far apart for families with small children, but ideal for couples and those with older children.
A delighftul place to spend time in the heart of the Dordogne and very conveniently situated near to many amenities.
Excellent facilities and located in a quiet street a short walk from Cenac. We found the cottage to be clean upon takeover with many items not normally available in french properties. Would certainly recommend this cottage to others.
We had a wonderful stay in a wonderful house. We were, however disappointed that the food in some of the restaurants in the areas we visited were not of a higher standard but I guess that this is just a matter of taste. Apart from this a wonderful part of the world and a comfortable place to stay.
Many thanks for the efficient way your company has handled everything.
May 2007 - Thank you for renting us your lovely cottage. It certainly lived up to expectations, beautifully renovated and decorated and with everything we needed. We had a wonderful holiday with plenty of bike riding when the weather was good and visits to grottes and gouffres on the couple of rainy days we had. We also enjoyed a delicious meal at La Belle Etoile - thank you for the recommendation. We will certainly be recommending your cottage and the area to friends at home as a perfect holiday destination. Best wishes Judy and Adrian.
We stayed for 10 days at the end of September. We had a very enjoyable stay at Le Capiol. The cottage is fantastic and its location was perfect for everything we wanted to do.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay whilst you visit the Dordogne, full of character, comfortable and in a unique and fabulous setting, then this cottage is for you. I highly recommend it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cottage Le Capitol and would recommend it. Accommodation was clean, well equipped and close to amenities such as supermarket, bakery and restaurants.
The property was of a very high standard with a wide range of amenities. The owner left us a bottle of wine as a welcome gift. Milk and orange juice was also provided. along with tea, coffee and some condiments. Cenac is in a beautiful area, surrounded by many interesting places to visit and our holiday was enhanced by the owner's hospitality.
However, I would like to make a few suggestions for possible improvement:
1. Convert the downstairs shower tray into a shower room, as the drainage is too sluggish to take the water away fast enough.
2. We prepared a lot of meals in the house and found the cooker was extremely slow.
3. I would have liked the choice of using the heating as and when it suited us. As we took our holiday in mid September, by the end of our stay the mornings and evenings were a little colder that the rest of the day.
These are only minor points; we had a wonderful time and intend to return.
We booked Cottage Le Capiol as we wanted to stay in a village house in the Dordogne. A quiet location was very important to us. The cottage met all these criteria. The position is excellent and indeed very quiet. Ceniac is perfectly located in the centre of the Dordogne but the village itself is " a proper place" with excellent shops. The cottage was just as described, very comfortable and well equipped. Our hired Audi estate car was too long to fit into the parking place but this did not matter at all as there was always a parking place outside the school which is very close. The only slight disappointment was the pation, which is not what we were expecting from the descriptio, however, this in no way detracted from a most enjoyable week at Cottage Le Capiol.
La Capiol is a lovely and well presented cottage set in the quiet village of Cenac. It is literally only a few hundred yards from the River Dordogne from where you can hire canoes and Kayaks and is perfectly situated for visiting the nearby town of Sarlat, and the villages of Domme, Vitrac and Beynac, all of which are absolutely beautiful.
The cottage has all the facilities you need and is tastefully furnished and decorated.
It has its own parking directly outside but it is tight and anything longer than my Ford Mondeo would be struggling.
An excellent place to stay and thoroughly recommended.
I could highly recommend this cottage, it was very comfortable, very clean, had everything we needed, well equipped kitchen and situated in a charming village which had shops and restaurants nearby, the cottage itself was in a quiet back lane. Thank you for a lovely break.
We chose Cottage Le Capiol for our two-week honeymoon destination and were delighted with the property.
The location is fantastic, on a quiet hill in the pretty village of Cenac with wonderful views over the village and surrounding countryside.
The house was spotless when we arrived; the owner provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay and was extremely helpful with any queries we had.
The accommodation exceeded our expectations, was described accurately on the Villarenters website and we would definitely reccommend it to others.
Wow!! What a superb cottage. The old cottage has been modernised lovingly and sympatheticaly to provide everything you need without spoiling the obvious history and charm of the building. The finish is so good I felt I was staying at someone's personal holiday cottage rather than a holiday let. This made for a comfortable stay and greatly enhanced our holiday. Having two ensuite bedrooms meant we were able to be up and out at a reasonable time. Not an easy task with a 17 year old daughter in the party! The village of Cenac is a perfect base to see all the delights that the Dordogne has to offer. Nowhere is far from here and in the village are all the amenities you need. It is not as obviously beautful as the touristy villages but if you take a closer look you will see it is as equally charming in it's own way. If you stay here you must take the footpath up the hill to Domme. That was probably the highlight of our holiday. A gentle stroll up the hillside to a beautiful village with stunning views of the area and no need to look for somewher to park the car! If you want a lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the World then Cottage Le Capiol is the place for you.
We have rented apartments in Paris, gites in the country and in smaller villages. This is among the best! We spent a glorious week in late April whilst the weather was magnificent.
It is a perfect base for exploring the many attractions in the region. Other than a few nearby roosters, the location is exceptionally quiet. Yet it offers the easy-walking amenities of the pleasant village which has most necessities and restaurants.
Don't miss the weekly market--just down the hill. We like to cook and the owners have fitted the kitchen with excellent cookware and utensils (we have stayed in other nice accomodations which seemed as if they were supplied from the castoffs at a flea market. The beds and other furnishings were comfortable.
A bonus for those who like the outdoors are the petite randonees. I picked up a couple of maps and enjoyed several hikes through the surrounding hills, the Dordogne River bottoms and walnut groves.
The owner was most accomodating in meeting us and introducing us to the property. The only caution I would offer is that the parking space is INDEED FOR A SMALL CAR.
We thought that the house was furnished beautifully and tastefully. The property was clearly maintained to a very high standard, and was very much in fitting with its environment. We had a very happy holiday in a very lovely Dordogne village and have already recommended it to others!
Out of ten carefully chosen accommodation venues on our itinerary in France and England, this was our favourite. This property is located in Cenac, below the lovely old hilltop bastide town of Domme. Outside but within easy and pleasant walking distance of the more touristy centre of Domme, we had the feel of being part of a small quiet village, while at the same time having ready access to the more popular sights and activities of the area when we wished. The property itself was beautifully renovated to reflect the cave-and-castle theme of the area. Every little detail had been thought of (there's even a picnic basket provided!). As a family with an active 11 year old son, we made much use of the local school's soccer grounds as well as the very handy supermarket and boulangerie/patisseries and restaurants. My teenage daughter was even able to catch some of the "Live Earth" concert from London on the satellite TV. We could walk to the river for a swim. All in all, a fantastic place I would quickly recommend to anyone.
My husband and I stayed here for an extended fortnight in June 2007, and in 20 years of renting houses in France, this has to be the best yet. It has been beautifully restored, with exposed stone walls, beams, furnished in a sympathetic way, and was spotlessly clean. The owner greeted us on arrival, showed us how everything worked, and had left a supply of tea, coffee, milk and croissants, everything we could have needed for the following morning's breakfast. The house is in a wonderful setting with stunning views over the village and valley and couldn't be better situated with 3 restaurants, bakery, butchers etc, all within short walking distance. All the main sites of this beautiful part of France, are within a short drive away.
My wife and I stayed at this beautiful cottage in June 2007 and it is difficult to imagine a nicer place to be. Ideally located with so many interesting places and shops within walking distance this must be one of the nicest spots in one of the nicesy regions of France.
The cottage was very well equipped and made us feel immediately welcome. It has a wonderfully homely feel with exposed stone walls and timber beams and has been restored to a very high standard.
Traditionally we visit a new region of France each holiday but we are now very tempted to return to this cottage.
This cottage exceeded our expectations. It has been sympathetically restored, has lots of character and yet provides everything one would expect for an comfortable stay.
The owner was there to welcome us on our arrival - which was quite late in the evening - and had provided a few items, such as milk, etc. which provided a stop gap until we could get to the shops the following day.
We found the location excellent.
I would recommend this cottage for couples, or a family with older children. In my opinion, I do not think it would be suitable for toddlers.
The gite was a lovely surprise because it has been so beautifully restored, and furnished to a high standard, but with a very homely feel to it. We found that it contained everything we needed during our stay. Its location, being so close to restaurants, walks, historic Domme, and canoeing is ideal. We would highly recommend this accommodation to family and friends without hesitation.
The only problems we had during the booking process were NOT the fault of the owner. The agency should ensure that it does not send out somewhat sharp emails about payments that are not in fact overdue. We almost cancelled in annoyance at one point.
It was good to be welcomed by the owner and we felt confident that we could get hold of him if there were a problem. He was very pleasant and patient with us when we were delayed and greeted us well.
The old house, with its thick walls and comparatively small windows, kept cool, but we note that in the winter it would be cosy as it was centrally heated.
The house was beautifully converted. It was very well equipped and spotlessly clean and we lacked nothing. The plentiful supply of water and the two bathrooms were much appreciated. The view from upstairs was lovely.
The setting was ideal. It was good to be within the village but have access to so many picturesque spots.
Had a wonderfully relaxing week in this well equipped, attractively converted house. The owners carefully anticipated our needs before we arrived and left nothing to chance. The village of Cenac provided our children with many interesting distractions and the locals were very polite and patient while we all practiced our beginner's french upon them. I would highly recommend this property to any family looking for that perfect venue that combines the rural french holiday with all its attractions with good things to do for under 12s in the immediate vicinity.
A beautifully renovated cottage which retains its old French feeling. It was very well equipped with everything we could have wanted and was convenient to all village amenities. An excellent base for touring Perigord.
